Online Poker is quickly growing in popularity. There are many variations of Poker out there, and it is helpful to know some of the basic terminology regarding the game. Here is some of the common lingo, to help get you started.

Ante: A small wager that is put in from each player to get the pot going All-In: This means you wager all of your available chips Blind: This is the required bet that is made before any cards are dealt Bluff: A strategic move where a player bets like they have a good hand, even if they don’t Buy-In: The amount needed to enter a game Check: Initiating betting without losing the right to act on an initiated bet Chips: Pieces used by players in place of actual money to indicate bet amounts Dead Man’s Hand: Two pair - Aces and Eights Draw: A player’s opportunity to replace a certain amount of cards with an equal amount of cards from the deck Flop: The first 3 cards dealt up, to be used by all players Full House: A pair and three of a kind Flush: Five cards, all of the same suit Fold: To throw your cards in, and give up any interest in the pot Hand: Your cards Muck: Discards, placed in a pile, face down in the center of the table by the dealer Pair: Any two cards that match Quads: Four of a kind Straight: A hand consisting of 5 consecutive cards, any suit Straight Flush: A hand consisting of 5 consecutive cards, all of the same suit Royal Flush: 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace, all of the same suit Trips: Three of a kind
