On last week’s Monday game against the Devil Rays Baltimore got an important 9-6 victory. The Orioles simply put an impressive attack over the Devil Rays, among other things with a four-homer attack that gave no other choice to the Devil Rays. But they were trailing by one in the fifth inning thanks to the four-homer they took the lead for good.

“We basically have a veteran bunch of players, so they know what to do once the light switch goes on,” hitting coach Terry Crowley said. “I’m very happy with the outcome today.”

Even with the good performance on Monday we won’t expect coach Perlozzo to bring the same lineup, “If we go out there and everyone goes 3-for-3, you might see the same lineup the next day. But everyone has to play. This is a 25-man team, and they all need to get their feet wet,” Perlozzo said.

Possible changes include putting rookie Nick Markakis in left or center field, switching Kevin Millar and Jeff Conine between left field and first base, giving David Newhan or Corey Patterson a start in the outfield and using either Javy Lopez or Raul Chavez behind the plate.

Tampa Bay

On the other side of the bullpen the Devil Rays didn’t do well at all, despite having the lead at one point in the game they weren’t able to maintain it against a powerful offensive from the Orioles.

The D’Rays have one goal this season and it’s to improve last year record, they had some good games mostly at the end of last season but didn’t have the consistency a MLB team should have in order to achieve something in the league. They’re trying to make this year different but have a long way to go, before they can really have a competitive team.

On other news The Rays will know more Wednesday on the status of SS Julio Lugo, it was announced with an abdominal strain, “I felt something (while hitting pre-game) and I thought it was going to go away,” Lugo said. “It pulled. It pulled hard on my last at-bat. We’re going to treat it and see how it is.” If Lugo is going to be out for an extended period, the Rays may have to summon top prospect B.J. Upton from Triple-A.
